Officially: Markdown File Kit · Make Markdown Feel Kinda-good.
What does FK mean? We never explain. We just open .md files beautifully.
Right-click any .md → Open With → MDFK. Say goodbye to #phobia.
Left: what your OS gives you. Right: hit the button and watch it transform.

↑ Tables, checklists ☑️, callouts & totals — all rendered by MDFK
Nine reasons, each one a pain you already know
Set it as your default app and every .md / .markdown / .mdown / .mkd opens fully typeset. No editor, no preview toggle, no fan noise.
Cold start ≤ 1sGFM tables & task lists, syntax highlighting, KaTeX math, Mermaid diagrams, callouts, front matter, footnotes — the full AI-era document stack.
Rendered locally, zero uploads. Scripts and iframes get stripped on sight; remote tracking images blocked; external links announce their domain before opening.
Relative paths with spaces, CJK characters and URL encoding all resolve. Missing file? You get a helpful placeholder, never a broken-image icon.
Outline auto-highlights your current section; ⌘F search highlights hits and jumps to them; T toggles dark mode; +/− resizes; three view modes.
Keyboard nirvanaThemed HTML / PDF export; copy rich text straight into Word, Docs or email; tables copy as TSV for Excel.
Auto-detects UTF-8 / UTF-16 / GB18030. That 2013 memo opens as human words again.
Ctrl+S in your editor → instant reload here, and your scroll position survives. PMs love it.
A 4-5 MB download, a memory footprint smaller than one browser tab. Light is a feature.
Real feedback from beta users (and their real emotions)
First thing I did: change the default .md handler for the whole company. Efficiency crime, solved.
Reading AI output used to feel like decryption. Now it feels like a magazine. I actively collect .md files now.
My boss asked why I was smiling at a document. I said “good writing”. It was actually this app.
4MB. My phone wallpaper is bigger than this app. Opens faster than my reaction time.
Minus one star: keeping a straight face while saying “Markdown File Kit” every time someone asks about FK is exhausting.
The moment Mermaid diagrams actually rendered, I forgave my colleague for using Obsidian.

The name, privacy, security, and everything else
Officially: Markdown File Kit. Unofficially: Make Markdown Feel Kinda-good. If you're thinking of something else — hey, that's on you. We just make a Markdown viewer, and we never explain FK.
Those are editors and IDEs. MDFK is a viewer: 4MB, instant open, zero config, finished document on arrival. A PDF reader doesn't make you learn typesetting first.
No. 100% local rendering, fully functional offline. Recent files store paths only, never content. We don't even have a server to upload to.
Blocked by default — loading them leaks your IP and open time (hello, tracking pixels). Tick “remote images” when you trust the doc. Your call.
UTF-8 / UTF-16 / GB18030 auto-detection with the encoding shown in the status bar. Ancient files become readable again.
Nope. A failed block degrades to expandable source; the rest of the document is untouched. Emotional damage: minimized.
Phase two of the roadmap. First we're making double-click-to-open flawless on Mac & Windows.
